Sustainable Steel Through Zero Liquid Discharge
Water is critical in steel production. However, sustainable steel requires responsible use. Therefore, we follow a strict zero liquid discharge approach.
We recycle and reuse all process water. In addition, we use treated water for landscaping and green zones. As a result, we reduce waste and protect natural resources.
Stage 1: Treatment Systems
First, we treat wastewater using advanced systems:
- 30 KLD STP at Units 1 and 2
- 10 KLD STP at Unit 4
- 20 KLD ETP for effluent recycling
- Monthly savings of 7,50,000 liters
Therefore, we reduce dependence on fresh water.
Stage 2: Filtration and Reuse
Next, we improve efficiency through filtration:
- 10 KL/hr ultrafiltration and RO systems
- Use of municipal water for furnace cooling
- Over 50% reduction in groundwater usage
As a result, we optimize water use across operations.
Stage 3: Final Optimization
Finally, we minimize waste further:
- Unit 1: 9 KL/hr with 15% waste reduction
- Unit 2: 8 KL/hr with 25% waste reduction
Thus, we maintain a closed-loop system aligned with sustainable steel goals.
Sustainable Steel Through Renewable Energy
Energy choices directly affect sustainability. Therefore, we invested in solar energy to support sustainable steel production.
- A Solar-Driven Approach: Today, 40% of our energy comes from renewable sources. As a result, we reduce dependence on conventional power.
- Lower Carbon Emissions: We achieved a 30% reduction in CO₂ emissions through 12 MW solar integration. Moreover, this supports cleaner production.
- Consistent Energy Output: We generate 14,16,664 units of solar power every month. Therefore, we ensure stable and sustainable operations.

Air quality remains a key concern in steel manufacturing. Hence, sustainable steel requires strict emission control.
We use advanced dust collection systems. As a result, we reduce harmful emissions. In addition, we create a safer work environment.
