It is a chromium stainless steel with added nickel and molybdenum to its composition.\u00a0 It offers its excellence in corrosion resistance and zero notch ductility. Grade F6NM is air-hardened stainless steel. Usually, it is available in quenched and tempered condition. Its machinability is limited to 23HRC. Its approved hardness limit is restricted to 75KSI.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is used often in applications that require weldability with corrosion resistance. Grade F6NM is primarily used in the oil industry and components of power plants and reactors, turbine construction, etc<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>COMPOSITION<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grade F6NM is chromium stainless steel. It contains 11.5-14% chromium with the addition of nickel and molybdenum with other elements like manganese, phosphorous, silicon, and sulfur. The nickel content in the range of 3.5-5.5% and molybdenum is 0.5-1%. The presence of nickel and molybdenum provides excellent zero notch ductility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>MECHANICAL PROPERTIES<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0The mechanical properties exhibit by grade F6NM is due to the high content of nickel and molybdenum in its chemical composition. The nickel content significantly improves the mechanical properties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grade F6NM attains a tensile strength of 790 Mpa and yield strength of 620 Mpa. Hardness is 295B. Elongation is 15%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>CORROSION RESISTANCE<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grade F6NM offers considerable corrosion resistance to no chloride environments<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Corrosion resistance can be improved by polishing the surface.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>MAGNETIC PROPERTIES<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grade F6NM is ferromagnetic in nature.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>WELDING<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Welding can be by pre-heating to about 150\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>HEAT TREATMENT<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>Annealing<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Annealing can be done at between temperature ranges of 600-650\u00b0C, followed by air-cooling.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>Hardening<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hardening can be attained by heating in the temperature range of 1100 to 1150 \u00b0C followed by quenching and tempering. Mechanical properties improvised by quenching and tempering.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>APPLICATIONS<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grade F6NM is primarily used in the oil and petrochemical industry and components of power plants and reactors.
